Through the site www.pomahameludom.sk you can find information on how to apply for a government contribution to help maintain employment in the times of a declared emergency or an emergency in connection with the Covid -19.

Applications for these contributions for April 2020 can be submitted from 16 May 2020 onwards. New templates will be published for this purpose shortly. The current templates are to be used for March applications.

One of the categories for which the Covid -19 First Aid is intended is self-employed people („SZČO“), who had to close their operations based on the decision of the Public Health Office of the Slovak Republic or those whose sales decreased by at least 20% (10% in March 2020 respectively).

If you fit into this category, you can apply for a flat-rate allowance to compensate for the loss of income from self-employment.

Eligible applicant:

A self-employed person, who at the time of the declared emergency encountered an interruption to the performance or operation of their business, based on the decision of the Public Health Office of the Slovak Republic, or those whose sales decreased by at least 20% (or 10% in March 2020).

Target group:

Self-employed people, who were paying for their health and social insurance until 31 March 2020 and are continuing to pay their insurance even after this date, or self-employed people drawing so-called „levy holidays“.

Self-employed people, who have a parallel employment relationship, or who have cancelled or suspended their operation of self-employment, are not eligible for the allowance.

Eligible period:

From 13 March 2020 – i.e. from the date of the decision of the Public Health Office of the Slovak Republic, on the lockdown or restriction of operations until the end of the calendar month in which the decision of the Public Health Office of the Slovak Republic will be revoked.

Contribution amount:

The allowance to compensate for the loss of income from  the operation of self-employment will be derived from the decrease in sales as per the following table:

The applicant must prove a decrease in sales in one of the following ways:

1. The sales for the reported month are compared with the sales for the same month of the previous year (e.g. for the reported period 03/2020, the previous one is 03/2019).

2. The average sales in 2019 (i.e. 1/12 of sales for 2019) are compared with the sales for the reported month – only those who conducted the business throughout the whole of 2019 are eligible.

3. The sales for February 2020 are compared with the sales for the reported month – only those who were running the business for part of 2019, and began to operate as self-employed by 01.02.2020 at the latest, are eligible.
